Research Notes on Sticky Eye
A sticky eye is a condition where a newborn baby has a discharge from the eyes causing the eyelashes to seem glued together. This is a common infection, especially during the first 24 hours of a baby’s life. It is caused by blood or other fluids that enter the baby’s eyes during birth. The infection clears up on its own; however, the eyes should be cleaned regularly to help relieve stickiness.
