Research Notes on Statins and Coenzyme Q10
Statin drugs can lower the body's natural production of coenzyme q10, so taking a supplement is recommended.1 Taking the supplement may help lower the risk of rhabdomyolysis, which is a side effect of statin drugs.2 Muscle and joint aches may also be relieved by taking a coenzyme Q10 supplement. Always discuss taking supplements with your doctor.
