Research Notes on Stages of Grief
The thoughts and emotions experienced by a person after the loss of something or someone deeply cared for is called grief. The Kübler-Ross model is most often used to determine the staging of grief. This model was developed by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross after she spent years working with terminal cancer patients.1
Fast Facts:
- The first stage of grief is typically denial of the event.2
- Anger, bargaining and depression are the middle stages of grieving.3
- The final stage of grief is acceptance of the situation.4
