Research Notes on St. John's Wort
St. John's wort is a plant that has been used for centuries for health reasons most commonly in the treatment of depression and anxiety. Scientific evidence has shown that it is most effective in treating mild depression.1 It is considered safe, however it can cause interactions with herbs, other supplements or prescription medicines.2

- St. John's wort is also know as Tipton's weed or Klamath weed.3
- It has also been shown to be helpful in treating alcoholism, premenstrual syndrome, and seasonal affective disorder.4
- Side effects may include stomach upset, skin problems, fatigue, dizziness, and headache.5
