Research Notes on Spotting and Ovulation
Spotting occurs when there is a discharge of blood usually at the start of the ovulation period. This is due to the rupture of the ovarian follicle when the mature egg is released from the ovary. The residual blood trace can occur a few days before menstruation. This also indicates the start of the fertility period.
