Research Notes on Spinal Stenosis
Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal canal caused by disc or bone material. This causes pressure on the spinal cord and/or the nerves. This can result in weakness in the extremities. Spinal stenosis can occur in various ways; most often it occurs in the lower back (lumbar spine) affecting the sciatic nerve.

- Commonly caused by bone damage from osteoarthritis
- May cause numbness in arms, legs, neck, and shoulders
- Can lead to problems in bowel and bladder function
