Research Notes on Sleep Diary
A sleep diary is used by health care providers to diagnose and treat sleep disorders.1 Basic information that is often included in a sleep diary includes caffeine intake, any exercise that you may have done during the day, and the time you went to bed.2 If you have difficulty sleeping for two or more weeks, your doctor may recommend that you keep a sleep diary.1
Fast Facts:
- Your health care provider will let you know what information should be included in your sleep diary.1
- A sleep diary can be created using a notebook or any other type of journal.1
- Your health care provider may also recommend that you include any medications you are taking in your sleep diary.2
