Research Notes on Sleep
Sleep is a resting state in which a person becomes inactive. The body rests, but the brain stays active. Sleep is important for overall physical and mental health.1
Fast Facts:
- A person will spend approximately one third of their life sleeping.2
- Most adults need 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night.3
- School aged children and teens need at least 9 hours of sleep each night.3
