Research Notes on Skin Cream
Skin cream is any topical lotion or cream applied to the skin to treat dryness. The skin cream that's best for you depends on many factors, including your skin type, your age and whether you have specific conditions, such as acne, psoriasis, or eczema. If a skin moisturizer doesn't improve the condition of your skin or you notice skin problems after using a moisturizer, see your doctor or dermatologist.1
Fast Facts:
- Some skin creams contain sunscreen to protect against sunburn.2
- Ointments and creams differ in that ointments are oil based, while creams are water based.3
- Skin cream can protect sensitive skin, improve skin tone and texture, and mask imperfections.1
