Research Notes on Skelaxin and Pregnancy
Skelaxin has been classified as a pregnancy category B drug by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In animal studies, there was no risk to the fetus or fetal development.1 Consult a health care professional if pregnant or planning a pregnancy to discuss the risks of taking Skelaxin during pregnancy.2
Fast Facts:
- Skelaxin is a brand name for metaxalone.3
- Skelaxin is a muscle relaxant prescribed to help treat stiffness, pain, and discomfort with muscle injuries.4
- Breastfeeding mothers should discuss the risk with a physician of Skelaxin excreting into the breast milk.2
- Not recommended for children under the age of 12.2
