Although shrimp is a bit high in cholesterol, it is important to realize that shrimp is especially low in saturated fat.1 While a three-ounce serving of shrimp contains about 166 milligrams of cholesterol, it contains only 0.2 grams of saturated fat. When eating seafood such as shrimp, pay attention to portion sizes and note that adding toppings such as butter will increase the level of fat and cholesterol.2
