Research Notes on Shingles on Face
Shingles, which is due to the re-activation of the varicella zoster virus, results in the appearance of blisters that follow a dermatomal (dermatome) pattern of distribution from the spinal cord to the affected skin. When involvement of the face occurs, complications such as Herpes Zoster Ophthalmicus and Ramsay Hunt Syndrome may occur. Immediate medical consult and early detection will help prevent complications of the varicella zoster virus.
