Research Notes on Shingles Transmission


Shingles can be acquired if the person previously had chicken pox. A person with blisters from shingles can spread the virus by contact but will not produce shingles but rather chicken pox. One study reports that the virus causing shingles may be released into the air from the blister sore and it can also be found in wound dressings of infected persons.
