Research Notes on Shingles

Shingles is an adult form of chicken pox that can be very painful. It generally appears as a band of blisters on the back and chest. Other parts of the body can be involved as well, including the neck, face or scalp.1

  • Caused by the herpes zoster virus (varicella-zoster virus) that also causes chicken pox.2
