Research Notes on Seroquel and Pregnancy
Use of Seroquel during pregnancy may not be safe. Studies have shown that an increase of miscarriage can occur. In studies on rats and rabbits that were pregnant it was shown to cause low birth weight and slow development. The FDA has given Sreoquel a pregnancy category C drug rating.1
Fast Facts:
- Seroquel should only be taken during pregnancy when the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the fetus.2
- You should notify you doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant while taking Seroquel.3
- Seroquel is a is a brand name for the drug quetiapine and is prescribed for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.4
