Research Notes on Septoplasty
Septoplasty is the repair of the nasal septum. The nasal septum is the wall that separates the two sides of the nose. The damage to the nasal septum can be caused by a deformity or injury. Septoplasty is usually performed to relieve nasal blockage that can lead to nasal infections and headaches.1
Fast Facts:
- Septoplasty is usually an outpatient procedure.
- Bruising and swelling of the nose, eyelids and upper lip is normal after septoplasty.
- May experience numbness of the nose tip for several months after septoplasty.2
