Research Notes on Scarlet Fever
Scarlet fever occurs mostly in children between the ages of 2 and 10 years. Scarlet fever starts with a very high fever and sore throat. These early symptoms are followed by nausea, vomiting, headache and abdominal pain. Twelve hours to two days later a distinctive scarlet rash appears- starting on the neck and chest and then all over the body. The rash tends to feel like sandpaper.
