Research Notes on Salmonella
Salmonella is the name of a large number of types of bacteria. Salmonellosis is the most common disease caused by the organisms.It is the most common form of food poisoning. Some ways to prevent Salmonella infections is with regular hand washing, careful attention to food safety, and caution when handling reptiles.
Fast Facts:
- Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
- When some of the Salmonella organisms are not killed by the normal human immune defenses typhoid fever may occur.
- Food is the most common source of Salmonella for humans.
- Reported cases are 14 cases per each 100,000 people. However not all cases are reported.
