Research Notes on SSRIs and Weight Gain
Weight gain is associated with antidepressant drugs. It has been said that tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) are more likely to cause weight gain than selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). However, long term use of paroxetine (Paxil), a drug which belongs to the SSRI group, causes weight gain.
