Research Notes on SNRI Withdrawal

SNRIs (serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors) can cause withdrawal symptoms in people who abruptly stop their medicine. Dizziness, nausea, headache, irritability, vomiting, tingling or burning sensations, and nightmares are all symptoms from discontinuing this drug.1

Fast Facts:

  • SNRIs are a group of antidepressants used in the treatment of depression and other affective disorders.2
  • About one third of all people taking SSRIs and SNRIs have withdrawal symptoms after quitting the drug.3
  • Consult with your healthcare provider before discontinuing your medication. They will help you with slowly quitting, minimizing the chances of developing SNRI withdrawal symptoms.1
