Research Notes on Serotonin and Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors (SNRIs)
Serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) are antidepressants that are used to treat conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, among others. Side effects include nausea, drowsiness, and headache. It is recommended that users have their blood pressure monitored frequently as this medication can cause high blood pressure.1
Fast Facts:
- SNRIs available include Effexor, Meridia, Serzone, Cymbalta, and Norpramine.1
- A rare side effect of SNRIs is serotonin syndrome and can be life threatening.2
- It is not recommended that users stop using these drugs abruptly.2
