Research Notes on Rotationplasty for Children with Bone Cancer
The traditional treatment for bone cancer in children is amputation. Now, there is a new surgery that is saving legs and giving children second chances. Rotationplasty allows the doctor to remove the tumor, and then rebuild the leg. An ankle bone can become a new knee joint, with the foot acting as a lever to power an artificial leg, and feeling still remains in the toes.
