Research Notes on Ritalin Interactions
As with any drug, there is a chance of interactions when taking Ritalin. Since the use of Ritalin with certain other medications can alter the effects of either drug, be sure that your doctor knows if you are also using anti-seizure drugs, antidepressants, blood thinners, clonidine, blood pressure medication, guanethidine, or phenylbutazone.1 This medication is not recommended if you have taken an MAO inhibitor within the last two weeks.2

- Be sure that your doctor is aware of all prescription and over-the-counter medications, including vitamins, minerals, or herbal products, that you are taking.2
- Ritalin is used in the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy.3
- Ritalin is a brand name for the drug methylphenidate.
