Research Notes on Ring of Fire ADD
According to Dr. Daniel Amen, ADD and ADHD come in six different types. One of these is called ring of fire ADD.1 This type of ADD has some symptoms from each type of ADD involved. Because of this, it may lead to substance abuse problems and antisocial behavior.2 Ring of fire ADD types may be angry and irritable and even overly sensitive to their environment.1 There is very little reliable information as of yet on these types of ADD.

- Ring of fire ADD is also called basal ganglia ADD.3
- Ring of fire ADD is often confused with bipolar disorder.4
- The other five types of ADD according to Dr. Amen are classic ADD, inattentive ADD, over-focused ADD, temporal lobe ADD, and limbic ADD.4
- There are different treatments for the different types of ADD.
