Research Notes on Rift Valley Fever
Rift Valley Fever is a viral infection of animals. It is transmittable to humans and can cause symptoms such as headache, photophobia, (intolerance to light), muscle pain and appetite loss. Rift valley fever is mosquito borne, spread by a bite by an infected insect. Humans are able to contact this disease by handling tissues or secretions of affected animals. Currently a vaccine for humans is being studied.
