Research Notes on Rheumatoid Arthritis and Hormones

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) affects women two to three times greater than men. The increased risk of females getting RA is attributed to reproductive hormones. Some studies have shown that RA is linked with decreasing estrogen levels. There are other hormones being linked with RA. Further research needs to be conducted to confirm the relationship of certain hormones with the development of RA to come up with an appropriate treatment course for the disease.
