Rheumatoid Arthritis and Food Allergies

Food allergies have been linked to triggering the immune system in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). RA flare-ups were reported by some people after consuming certain foods. Food allergies happen when the body mistakenly thinks that the food consumed is harmful. The immune system then produces antibodies against the food and in some cases, the antibodies and the proteins bind together and circulate throughout the body. This then causes the joints to become inflamed.
