Raloxifene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator or SERM, which acts on the body's estrogen receptors and is commonly prescribed for osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It may also be used to prevent breast cancer in postmenopausal women even if they do not have osteoporosis.1
