Raloxifene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator or SERM, which acts on the body's estrogen receptors and is commonly prescribed for osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It may also be used to prevent breast cancer in postmenopausal women even if they do not have osteoporosis.1

  • Sold under the brand name Evista.2
  • Side effects may include edema, swelling, leg cramps, and sweating.3
  • Raloxifene should not be used in those who are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Use should also be avoided in those with a history of blood clots. Evista can increase the risk of developing new blood clots.4
