Research Notes on Pyelonephritis
Pyelonephritis is an ascending urinary tract infection that has reached the pyelum (pelvis) of the kidney. If the infection is severe, the term "urosepsis" is used interchangeably (sepsis being a systemic inflammatory response syndrome due to infection).
