Research Notes on Purinethol Dosage
There is no standard dosing regimen for Purinethol, as the dose will be different for each patient and is generally determined by body weight. A standard formula to determine dosage is 2.5 mg per kilogram of body weight per day for adults and children. This dosage may be adjusted, though, in the event that other medications are being used alongside Purinethol.1

- Elderly patients are generally given a reduced dose of Purinethol.2
- Under no circumstances should patients adjust the dose of Purinethol without discussing the matter with the physician.2
- Purinethol is a brand name of the generic medication mercaptopurine.2
