Pulmonary function testing (PFT) is a series of tests used to measure how well the lungs are functioning.1 PFTs can be used to diagnose respiratory illness or to determine the progression of a respiratory illness.1 Testing typically takes anywhere from 5-30 minutes, depending on how many tests are performed.2
