Research Notes on Psoriasis and Alcohol
Alcohol is known to trigger psoriasis outbreaks and can worsen psoriasis symptoms. It can decrease the amount of vitamin A and vitamin E in the body which is known as a base for most psoriasis therapies.1 Avoiding alcohol can greatly reduce your psoriasis symptoms.2
Fast Facts:
- Men should avoid drinking more than 2 alcoholic beverages a day to avoid flare-ups.3
- Women who drink more than 1 alcoholic beverage a day also increase the risk of psoriasis flare-ups.3
- Alcohol may lead to one of the worst forms of psoriasis referred to as erythrodermic psoriasis.4
