Research Notes on Prozac
Prozac is a brand name for the drug fluoxetine. Doctors prescribe it to treat depression, bulimia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and panic disorder. Prozac works by regulating serotonin levels in the brain.1 For complete information, see the fluoxetine WisdomCard.

- Prozac belongs to a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).2
- The most common side effects reported are insomnia, nausea, weakness, headache, diarrhea, loss of appetite, drowsiness, and anxiety.3
- Prozac is available in 10, 20, and 40 mg. capsules, 90 mg. delayed release capsules, 10, 15, and 20 mg. tablets, and 20mg/5ml oral suspension.2
