Research Notes on Prostate Conditions
Prostate conditions can occur as a result of the enlargement of the prostate gland. Men over 50 are most likely to suffer from prostate problems.1 Common prostate conditions include prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and prostate cancer.1 Prostate cancer is highly treatable when detected early.1
Fast Facts:
- Prostatitis is often painful swelling or infection of the prostate gland.2
- Benign prostatic hyperplasia, an enlargement of the prostate gland, makes urination very difficult.3
- Noncancerous prostate conditions are not life-threatening and commonly treated with medication or surgery.4
