The prostate gland is an endocrine gland that is part of the reproductive system of male mammals.1 It stores and secretes seminal fluid and semen.1 It also contains the hormones needed for the development of male sex characteristics.1

- The word prostate comes from a Greek word which means protector or guardian.1
- A healthy human prostate is a little bigger than a walnut.1
- Ejaculatory ducts, which are inside of the prostate gland, release sperm during the reproduction process.1
