Emergency contraceptive pills or the "morning-after pill" -- are drugs that act both to prevent ovulation or fertilization and possibly post-fertilization implantation of a blastocyst (embryo). The most common side effect reported by users of emergency contraceptive pills is nausea. Temporary disruption of the menstrual cycle is also commonly experienced.
