Research Notes on Promethazine
Promethazine is used to alleviate symptoms of an allergic reaction such as allergic conjunctivitis, allergic rhinitis, allergic skin reactions, and symptoms of the common cold. This drug may also be used to prevent vomiting and nausea, as well as motion sickness. Promethazine comes in tablet, injection, syrup, and suppository form.1
Fast Facts:
- Promethazine is the generic version of brand name drugs Phenergen, Promethegan, and Phenadoz.2
- This drug should not be taking with any MAO inhibitors.2
- Promethazine may cause sedation, dizziness, dry mouth, seizures, constipation, and impotence.2
