Research Notes on Prescription Drugs
Prescription drugs are medications that consumers must have written authorization in order to use.1 The written authorization, known as prescriptions, can be provided by physicians, veterinarians, dentists and optometrists. 1 Prescription drugs are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration.1 Herbal supplements, which are used as alternatives to medication, are not FDA regulated.1
