Polycystic liver disease, or (PLD) is characterized by a liver that looks like a cluster of large grapes. Patients that have PLD can develop huge enlargements on the liver that can result in discomfort from abdominal swelling. In severe cases; the patient may lead a poor quality of life due to the pain and the fluid. PLD does not cause liver failure. A liver transplant is the only long term solution to PLD.
