Placenta Previa

The placenta is normally attached away from the cervix, to the upper part of the uterus. On rare occasions, the placenta lies low in the uterus either partly or completely blocking the cervix. As many as 1 in every 3 to 5 pregnancies has some form of placenta previa before the 20th week of pregnancy.
