Research Notes on Pierre Robin Sequence
Pierre Robin Sequence is a birth defect in which a newborn is born with an abnormally small jaw. This defect causes the infants tongue to fall toward the back of the mouth blocking the airway. Pierre Robin Sequence is known to occur in up to 1 out of every 8,000 live births.
