Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a third-level treatment for cancer. A photosensitizer, light, and tissue oxygen are the three key components in photodynamic therapy. Photodynamic therapy is also an approved treatment for wet macular degeneration.1

Fast Facts:

  • Originally called photoradiation therapy (PRT) in first study in 1913.1
  • PDT can be localized unlike chemotherapy.1
  • Hollow needles can be used to get light from PDT deeper under the skin.1
