Research Notes on Peppers and Cholesterol
High cholesterol levels can be dangerous to your body's arteries and to you heart. Cholesterol levels should be monitored in order to maintain a healthy heart. Red chili peppers have been shown to help lower both cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood.1

- Capsaicin, the chemical in the chili pepper that gives the spicy flavor, is the part of the pepper that actually lowers blood cholesterol.2
- Cultures that use red chili peppers in may dishes tend to have a lower rate of heart disease.1
- Peppers are also rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin K.2
