Research Notes on Chili Peppers
Chili peppers contain capsaicin, which gives them their characteristic spice when eaten, and may help fight diabetes, obesity, heart disease, rhinitis and offer pain relief. Red chilis contain high amounts of vitamin C and carotene. Peppers are also a good source of most B vitamins -- vitamin B6 in particular -- as well as potassium, magnesium and iron. Pepper's health benefits can be enjoyed fresh, dried, or as hot sauces.
