Cerebral aneurysm is just one possible cause of subarachnoid hemorrhage in children and it accounts for only 2% of all cerebral aneurysms in the United States. The incidence of ruptured aneurysms is about 12 in 100,000 individuals. Two causes of subarachnoid hemorrhage in children are aneurysm or an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) which is congenital.
