Partial Mastectomy

Research Notes on Partial Mastectomy

A partial or segmental mastectomy is a breast cancer surgery that involves removal of a portion of the breast tissue. This surgery is also called a quandrantectomy if one quarter of the breast is removed. In some cases a separate procedure to remove some or all of the lymph nodes in the armpit is also performed, either an axillary node dissection or a sentinel node biopsy.
