Research Notes on Paresthesia
"Pins and Needles" is another more common term to describe this sensation. A good example is when your arm or foot falls asleep. Normally the cause is pressure on a nerve. As the pressure is relieved; so is the feeling. More severe types of Parethesia can be a symptom of nerve damage or disease.
