Research Notes on Panic Disorder

Panic disorder is characterized by recurrent, unexpected feelings of extreme fear and dread, which can occur with no reason. Many people with panic disorder also suffer from agoraphobia. This is due to the fear of having a panic attack while in public. These are called anticipatory attacks. A diagnosis of panic disorder is considered if two or more panic attacks have occurred along with feelings of increased anxiety for at least one month.1
