Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic cancer is the growth of malignant cells in the pancreas. The pancreas produces enzymes to help digest food and secretes hormones which help maintain and regulate body sugar levels. There are several types of pancreatic cancer, depending on the types of cells affected.

Fast Facts:

  • The two primary types are exocrine and endocrine tumors.
  • Treatable when caught early.1
  • Incidents have dropped in the last 15-25 years, but it remains the fourth leading cause of cancer death.2
  • Linked to the BRCA2 gene and appears to happen with higher frequency in people of Ashkenazi Jewish descent.1
