Research Notes on Pain Management and Addiction
Pain management’s main goal is to relieve pain. A multidisciplinary approach which includes pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic, and psychological measures is normally used to treat pain. Because patients may develop tolerance to or dependence on certain pain medications, working closely with medical practitioners is highly recommended when managing pain through pharmacological means. This way, the doctor can make proper adjustments on the dosage of drugs to prevent addiction.
